NetRAP's Role in the iRAP Project Enhancing Saudi Arabia's Road Network
As of March 2024, the first phase of the largest iRAP project in the world has been successfully completed. Our solution NetRAP plays a crucial role in this significant initiative.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Transport of Saudi Arabia and partners from EuroGroup, we have recorded and assessed over 70,000 kilometers of roads across the Kingdom. This ambitious project aims to enhance the country’s road infrastructure and is expected to span more than a decade, with a total investment estimated at $11 billion. This extensive undertaking not only aims to improve road safety and efficiency but also supports the broader vision of sustainable development in the region, ensuring safer travel for all road users.
Saudi Arabia's Road Safety Goals for 2030
Saudi Arabia’s 2030 National Road Safety Strategy outlines ambitious goals for improving highway safety and quality. The initial target is for 70% of the country’s highways to achieve a 3-star rating or higher by 2022. This commitment demonstrates the government’s proactive approach to reducing traffic accidents and enhancing safety standards for road users.
Looking ahead, the strategy aims for 100% of highways to meet the 3-star rating by 2030. This long-term objective highlights Saudi Arabia’s dedication to building a reliable and safe road network that aligns with international safety standards. By focusing on road safety initiatives and infrastructural improvements, the country seeks to promote safer travel and foster public confidence in its transportation system.
